Benjamin Bellas is a 1998 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Studio Arts with minors in Art History and Philosophy and a 2005 graduate of The School of Art Institute Chicago's MFA program. He has participated in residencies at the Roger Brown Residency, New Buffalo, MI; Redux Contemporary Art Center, Charleston, SC; 1a space, Hong Kong; and the Contemporary Artists Center, North Adams, MA. He has shown at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI; ARC gallery, Chicago, IL; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL; tactile-BOSCH Gallery, Cardiff, UK; Boots Contemporary Art Space, St. Louis, MO; Garage Projects, Atlanta, GA; and Contemporary Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey. Bellas has exhibited numerous solo and group works in the US and Europe.

I seek to understand the experience of understanding. Its cerebral sculpture, or lyric visual art, these gestures into the void. Simple is paired with complex, emotion with pure logic, synthesis with analysis, and each pairing against each other.
