Brett Colley earned his MFA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa in 1994 and his BFA from Grand Valley State University in 1991. He also attended the Kendall College of Arts and Design, where he won an Honor Scholarship. Now an Associate Professor at Grand Valley State University, Colley teaches a variety of courses including Drawing, Printmaking, and Senior Seminar. Colley's work has been exhibited widely, in over 30 states and 6 countries. He has received many awards and grants for his work, including the Tweed Museum of Art Purchase Award, the University of Minnesota President's Purchase Award, and the Revington Arthur Purchase Award. His recent projects - including installations in Cleveland, Chicago, and Davenport, Iowa - address issues of social justice, with heightened focus on animal rights and the abolition of factory farming. Colley is also active as a curator, having served on the Curatorial Board of the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts from 2004-2012.
