Emilio Melendez is an artist and graphic designer based in Cleveland, Ohio with a BFA from the University of Akron. His work draws its primary influence from the decaying rust belt environment of Northeast Ohio, using it as a lens to explore our broader society. Emilio uses an iterative, intuitive approach to create paintings, creating layers upon layers of material in order to explore the way past decisions can shape the present, while the present can re-frame the past. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout Cleveland and Akron.
