Frances Whitehead earned her BFA from East Carolina University (1975) and her MFA from Northern Illinois University (1978). She is a professor of sculpture at The School of Art Institute of Chicago and the founder of ArtEtal Studio. She is the recipient of awards from the Tiffany Foundation, the NEA, and Illinois Arts Council.
