H. Maria Armijo is a multidisciplinary artist born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and raised in Ohio. Her practice centers on memory, storytelling, and cultural archives, working across painting, textiles, and mixed media to explore diaspora, loss, and connection.
She began painting during the pandemic, drawing from family photographs, handwritten notes, and inherited objects to investigate how memory is carried and reimagined across generations.
Armijo completed the Kent Blossom Art Intensives in Painting (2022). Her work has been exhibited at Artful Cleveland, Cuyahoga Community College, The YARDS Projects, and Stella’s Art Gallery. She received an Honorable Mention in the Paul and Norma Tikkanen Painting Prize at the Ashtabula Arts Center.
Alongside her studio practice, she works in education and artist-centered programming. Her work returns to the quiet ways memory endures through gesture, material, and the act of making.
