"In my videos a performers weight, endurance, strength, and balance are brought into concert with the flexibility of a tree branch, the viscosity of a patch of creek mud, or the movement of a pontoon dock bobbing in lake water. I am interested in landscape, the body, and the way that a camera both frames and mediates the relationship between the two things. The people in front of the camera, the person behind the camera, and even the camera itself are all active proponents of the negotiation that goes into making my compositions."
Jason Nein holds an MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Practice from Ohio University and a BFA in Sculpture from Wright University. He has shown at The Kennedy Museum of Art, Athens, OH; The Lyons Weir Gallery, New York City; The Midwives Gallery, Philadelphia; Anderson Ranch, Snowmass Village, CO; Recombinant Media Labs, San Francisco, and more.
