GALLERY OPEN WED - SAT 12-5PM | OFFICES OPEN MON-FRI 9-5PM
Jerome is a Cleveland-based artist, educator, and community artist whose work explores African American history, spirituality, identity, and the human condition. Influenced by artists Paul Goodnight, John T. Biggers, and Charles White, his practice combines mixed media, acrylic, and oil painting with rich texture and symbolism to examine histories of adversity, resilience, beauty, and endurance.
Alongside his studio practice and teaching, Jerome is deeply engaged in community-based artmaking and activism. Music, sports, family, and local history frequently inform his work, which uses art as a way to spark dialogue, reflection, and connection. He has led mural and beautification projects throughout Cleveland neighborhoods, creating opportunities for community members—particularly young people—to develop and celebrate their own creativity.
His public commissions include the Heights HOF mural and a nine-panel series at League Park honoring local and national baseball history, including Cleveland Guardians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Negro League players. Through both his studio and community practices, Jerome continues to create work that connects personal experience with the larger histories and stories that shape Cleveland.
