Melinda Placko earned her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and her MFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a focus in public and collaborative art. She has taught art for over seven years through the Cleveland and Akron Art Museums, Youthbuild Holyoke, and Beck Center for the Arts. A working artist and co-founder of Melk Truk Studio, she creates mixed media drawings on a variety of surfaces such as paper, sidewalks, lawns, parking lots, walls and walkways. She has worked with Young Audiences since 2008 as a master teaching artist for the summer ArtWorks programs where she works with the students to create community art such as chalk drawings. In addition to this work, she works as a studio manager at Melk Truk Studio and Village Art Studio as well as an art educator at various places throughout Northeast Ohio.
