Nick Birnie is a visual artist based in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in spring of 2021. Within his personal studio practice, he is interested in themes of architecture in transition. Exploring themes of gentrification and the ever evolving urban landscapes we interact with on a daily basis. Examining the communities within and driving factors of urban evolution. Another way he investigates community values is through murals and public art-- investigating what it means to be a part of a community, and furthermore, what it means to have his artwork exist in different communities. He has exhibited work in group shows such as 74th Student Independent Exhibition and Infecting the Human Experience, both at the Cleveland Institute of Art. In 2021 he interned at the Artist Archives of the Western Reserve.
