Rosemarie Chiarlone is a visual artist who lives and works in Miami. She received her degrees from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, and at Florida International University, Miami, Florida. Her work addresses the physical and psychological boundaries of human connectedness and the impact of its loss in the several contexts, both individually and within a larger societal scope. She explores issues pertaining to social ideologies related to life, society, and gender in the 21st century. This is expressed in works on paper, artist books, installation and video. Her work is represented in the collections of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC; Iris & B. Gerald Cantor, Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami; The Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry, Miami; National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, Miami; Florida International University, Miami; The Arthur and Matta Jaffe Collection of Books and Aesthetic Objects, Boca Raton; Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Her work is also included in the special collections of Oberlin College, Ohio; University of California, Irvine; and the University of Miami, Miami. She has been the recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, New York; Artist Access Grant, Miami; and the Florida Visual Arts Fellowship. Since 1993 Chiarlone has been working as a Museum Magnet Lead Teacher at the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
