Sarah FitzSimons works with oceans, deserts, rivers, and mountain ranges, exploring collisions of the physical and metaphoric. Her work combines sculpture, outdoor installation, photography and video.
FitzSimons earned her MFA in 2005 from the University of California and her BFA in Sculpture and her BA in Political Science in 2000 from Ohio University. She has exhibited her work in cities across the United States, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Long Beach, Cleveland, and Atlanta, as well as in Portugal, Germany and Denmark. She has installed numerous pieces outdoors, including one sculpture permanently placed in Joshua Tree, California. Most recently FitzSimons received the Efroymson Contemporary Art Fellowship from the Efroymson Family Foundation, Indianapolis, IN. She has held residencies at the International Forest Art Path, Darmstadt, Germany in 2012, the Wadden Art Foundation AnyQuestions?
