Scott Rankin was born in 1954. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia in 1976 and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography/Video from UCLA in Los Angeles in 1980. He has been making video since 1979. His photographs, videotapes and installations have been exhibited internationally and are in numerous collections worldwide. He is a recipient of many grants and awards including four grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Rankin has long been interested in language, perception, consciousness and individual/ cultural interpretations of experience. He is especially interested in point of view and subjective experience in inter-personal and inter-cultural exchanges.
