We will share news about the upcoming shows soon--more to come.
For this edition of "Kid Art Reviews" our guest reviewer is 11 year old Graham, a Star Wars aficionado and a self-described comedian. Graham reviewed our current projects during his winter break from school.
(SPACES) What is your favorite piece in the show and why is it your favorite?
(Graham) My favorite is the selections from The Museum of Canine Eugenics , I liked the dogs. I've always really loved dogs and am a dog person, but when I saw this exhibit I was like "is that real dog fur?" and when they said it was I thought it was just a really cool idea. Mind blowing! (gestures mind exploding)
(SP) If you could eat this piece what would it taste like? Would it be spicy, tart, sweet, salty, bland, etc.?
(Gr) It would taste like dog and I would cough up a hairball. Because I would be eating fur and cat's eat fur and cough up hairballs, which is kind of their purpose in life.
(SP) If this piece was a person you didn't know would you want to say "hi" to them or get to know them? Would they be friendly or shy?
(Gr) I think they would be outgoing because it was kind of an interesting and comical exhibit, and I think of myself as a comical guy, so I think that's how I would think of it.
(SP) Does this piece remind you of anything you have seen before?
(Gr) Not at all.
Questions about the Exhibition in General
(SP) If you could sum the show up in one word what would that word be?
(Gr) Creative, it's because it had a bunch of interesting ideas that I would have never had thought of. That's all I can say...in a good way!
(SP)Does this show make you want to do anything? Go ride a bike, take a nap, throw rocks, have a sandwich, draw, watch tv, play, etc.
(Gr) It makes me want to do "Me" things; watch tv, play with my ipod, reading, the things I usually do, like sleeping. The diamond exhibit with the mac 'n cheese piece made me want to eat mac 'n cheese though.
(SP) If there was one thing you would say to the artist what would that be?
(Gr) You have a great imagination. They all had really good ideas for each exhibit.
(SP) If there was one question you could ask the artist what would that be?
(Gr) "Where did you get all the ideas?" Especially the exhibit with the guy wanting to travel to the other side of the world (The Great Antipode Expedition of 2014-15) and then all the emails saying "that would cost one billion dollars, or, my favorite one, the guy just responded "no."
(SP) Out of 5 Truman's how many Truman's would you give this show?
(Gr) Five. I would actually give it six. I was going to try to draw a sixth Truman, but I didn't. I would recommend this to my friends if they even knew what this place was. But I would tell them it's really funny art ideas and creative. And if they have a sense of humor they would enjoy it.
(SP) Do you have anything else you'd like to add?
(Gr) No, but "hello internet fame!" (chuckles)
