National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chair[person] Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $27 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment’s first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $30,000 to support the SPACES World Artists Program (SWAP), a residency opportunity for international, national and regional artists and art writers to create new work, engage deeply with local communities during the production process, and interact with audiences.

Art Works is the Arts Endowment’s principal grantmaking program. The agency received 1,605 Art Works applications for this round of grantmaking, and will award 972 grants in this category. SPACES' $30,000 grant is among the largest in the state of Ohio, just after $40,000 awards distribted to The Cleveland Orchestra and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and $35,000 to Apollo's Fire Baroque Orchestra.

We are tickled by the announcement of this decision, on time, despite concerns that funding would be disrupted by the recent government shutdown.
