SPACES opens its Spring/Summer season with exhibitions that address the often conflicting notions of belonging and cultural identity. The opening reception is FREE + open to the public.
The First 100+ Days is a group exhibition comprised of artists' responses to President Trump's immigration policies set forth during this early stage of his presidency. Visitors can expect to see artworks by 9 Ohio-based artists, experience a performance by choreographer and dancer Gregory King, and engage with members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Cleveland through the "Meet a Muslim" campaign.
For her installation at SPACES, Tea Taste Democracy and Upside down Objects, Yoko Inoue will debut works that examine Sherman Emory Lee's understanding of Japanese cultural identity that he developed through his relationship with Japanese scholars during his tenure at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
