We will share news about the upcoming shows soon--more to come.
SPACES opens 2018 with newly commissioned projects by Julia Christensen (Oberlin, OH) and Mahwish Chishty (Kent, OH)-two regional artists who have shown their work extensively, around the world.
Waiting for a Break, by Julia Christensen, draws our attention to how the health of Lake Erie is especially volatile as environmental oversight declines. Mahwish Chishty's Naming the Dead combines her interest in Pakistani traditional folk culture and contemporary politics; through her SWAP residency, she is working with school-aged children on a sound installation that reckons with the notion of collateral damage. In The Vault, Zak Long has organized a series of video works by Alison O'Daniel, Erin Robinson Grant, Tim Marshall, Christina Corfield, and Renee Rhodes.
The reception is FREE + open to the public. Join us for post-opening drinks across the street at Saucy Brew Works (2885 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland).
In addition, SPACES Season Pass members are invited to a sneak peek of our upcoming projects, on 1/23 from 6 pm - 8 pm. Members can speak with the artists in an informal setting, as they install their work.
