8x8x8

SPACES is pleased to announce 8x8x8, an event that challenges artists in our region to hone their skills at discussing their work. For the fourth year in a row, we're bolstering critical dialogue centered around the visual arts AND helping local artists with their professional development.

This fast-paced event turns the SPACES Mistake Lab into a round-robin for 8 artists to interact in quick, 8 minute succession with 8 art professionals. At the start of each 8 minute pairing, the artist will give an elevator pitch about their work and then the art professional will give feedback and ask the artist follow up questions. Once the whistle blows, the artists move to the next art pro and begin the pitch again, with each pitch getting easier and more refined.

Our arts professionals include:

Kat Burdine, Artist and Expanded Print Instructor at CIA; Paul Catanese, Artist, Professor and MFA Director at Columbia College (Chicago); Key Jo Lee, Art Historian/Critic/Curator and Assistant Director of Academic Affairs at Cleveland Museum of Art; Kelley Anne O'Brien, Artist and Gallery Director of Muted Horn; Bellamy Printz, Artist and Curator at Deep Dive Projects; Ellen Rudolph, Curator at Cleveland Clinic; Sarah Rose Sharp, Multimedia Artist and Arts Writer for Hyperallergic (Detroit); and Nikki Woods, Artist and Director of Reinberger Galleries at CIA.

Presenting artists:

Barbara Bachtell, T.L. Champion, Deanna Dionne, Carmen Lane, Barbara Martin, Nicole Schneider and Kate Snow.
