Out Gunned: Can We Really Remove Guns From The Streets?

A panel discussion with members of Cleveland's Gun Buyback program and SPACES artists Rickey Lewis and Matthew Deibel to discuss varying solutions around gun ownership and gun related violence in NE Ohio.

Robert M. Guttu Community Outreach Coordinator for the Cleveland Police Foundation and Keith Sulzer Liaison Officer and Captain with the Cleveland Division of Police will speak about the Cleveland Gun Buyback program and the impact it has had in the community so far.

“I Care About My Life & I Care About Your Life” is Rickey Lewis’ socially responsive program that uses art as a vehicle to develop a positive dialog between teens and law enforcement. Gun violence is a frequent topic discussed through these interactions and is one of many aspects his work addresses.

SPACES artist Matthew Deibel served in the United States Marine Corps from 2005-2009, deploying twice to Iraq. The language of his art is focused on the 15 months spent in a combat zone. His latest piece concerning Stand-your-ground is a part of our current exhibit America's Well Armed Militia, open now until September 27th. (FREE)
