Exploring the Black Art Library Black Art Library, ongoing.  Installation view: SPACES, 2021. Image by Amber N. Ford, Courtesy of SPACES.

Hosted by Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (moCa)

The Black Art Library (BAL) founder—arts educator Asmaa Walton—invites guests ages 12 & older to explore Black arts resources often excluded from the permanent collections of museums. Walton sees BAL as a "hybrid" community space where everyone can learn and explore the rich legacy of Black art, aesthetics, and history.

Immediately following this discussion, Walton and artist Antwoine Washington will facilitate a making workshop. Attendees will make their own Black Art Library cards and bookmarks while learning about the Museum of Creative Human Art (from co-founders Michael Russell II and Antwoine Washington).

This program is a collaboration brought to you by moCa Cleveland, SPACES, the Museum of Creative Human Art, and Hough Reads. Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required.
