In the Gund Gallery: Alexander Si (b. 1996, 09/17) is a multidisciplinary, project-based artist who’s body of work documents and examines subjects in American popular culture that exposes invisible labor, class and racial disparity, and the mental and behavioral repercussions of media and technology. Working at the intersection of sculpture, performance, video, and installation, Si uses hacking, staging, acting, and fabrication to lift these common scenarios out of its context and document the sociological consequences of contemporary times.

In the Oracle Gallery: Tia-Simone Gardner is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and Black feminist scholar. Working primarily with drawing, images, archives, and spaces, Gardner traces Blackness in landscapes, above and below the grounds surface. Ritual, disobedience, geography and geology are specters and recurring themes in her work. Gardner grew up in Fairfield, Alabama, across the street from Birmingham and learned to see landscape, capitalist extraction, and containment, through this place.
She lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Join SPACES for our opening reception next Friday Feb 24 from 5-9 PM.
