Good Vibes Fest

Good Vibes Festival is a celebration of only Cleveland based performing artist, highlighting the underrepresented and overlooked talent, while showcasing the diversity and creativity of the performing arts in Cleveland. As an internationally booked headlining performer, I’ve performed for audiences from the dozens to the thousands, from dive bars to convention center stages. In my almost 100 of performances, I’ve seen three patterns that need to be urgently addressed and changed, through Good Vibes Fest. First, the vast majority of major venues don’t pay performers at all while expecting an investment to be made in costuming, transportation, and lodging that can be recouped in tips or exposure. Secondly, black and brown performers are booked less, are paid less, and with free exposure as a precedent, they are not able to develop their artistry at the same rate as their white counterparts.
