Part of Artist-in-Residence
Appropriate for ages All Ages
In this interactive workshop, artist and death doula Brianna L. Hernández will share about the role of grief in her creative practice and guide participants to create a work of their own. The evening begins with Brianna discussing ways that art can be an engaging tool for understanding and coming to terms with the inevitable. After, participants will reflect on their own experience with loss by creating memorial artworks through guided prompts, and support from Hernández.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a personal memento related to their grief (images on a phone work just fine!) and to wear comfortable clothing that is okay to get a little messy. Not artistically inclined or you just don’t consider yourself creative? Don’t worry! This workshop is about the process, not the final product.
