NO EXIT New Music Ensemble
Appropriate for ages All Ages
No Exit’s final series of Surreality programs, Breaking the World, is the culmination of the ensemble’s season-long exploration of Surrealism. Join No Exit as they embrace the unexpected, the fantastical and the unconventional to create and perform works that endeavor to break the constraints of the ‘rational’ and ordered world and present a provocative alternate conception of how we can experience the world around us and within us.
Featured on this program will be a new works by composer/pianist Jerome Begin (https://www.jeromebegin.com), vocalist/performance artist Lauren Pearl (https://www.laurenpearl.net), composer/experimental harpist Stephen Haluska (https://www.facebook.com/StephanHaluskaHarp/), composer/filmmaker-pianist James Praznik and an alternate ensemble rendition of Marcel Duchamp’s iconoclastic Erratum Musical.
In conjunction with Breaking the World, artists at the Praxis Fiber Workshop are presenting Un Endroit Surréaliste (A Textile Dreamscape). This immersive, tactile environment has been created using fabric and textile materials that were fabricated in Praxis’ studio. The installation will be open to the public starting on May 3 and will run through May 26.
As part of No Exit’s season of Surreality, please join us for an entertaining and informative panel discussion about surrealism featuring three of Cleveland’s leading art luminaries: William Robinson, Marianne Berardi and Henry Adams. The panel discussion will take place at Heights Arts on Sunday, May 26 at 3:00 pm.
As always, all No Exit’s events are free and open to the public. Adventurous minds are welcome!
