Open Studio: "Fiber Chamber Bed" by Sarah Paul

SPACES is pleased to announce an Open Studio in advance of the forthcoming exhibition Fiber Chamber Bed by interdisciplinary artist Sarah Paul. Visitors will be invited to watch the artist work on the process and join in. Both experienced and new felters are welcome to participate in this work in-progress experience. The Open Studio will be held on Monday June 23, 2025 5-10pm at the artist’s gallery, Spontaneous Projects, located at 7952 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH.

For the final exhibition, Paul will use the support structure of a canopied hospital bed to display her wet-felted wool forms. Visitors will be invited to lay in the bed, immersing themselves in the somber bliss of tactile felted tendrils and vessels. Paul’s research interests focus on processing physical and mental trauma culminating in work that explores the state of being simultaneously in and out of the body. Through balancing socio-political intentions with irresistibly seductive form, this exhibition creates a space for healing from perpetual shared and individual trauma.
