FIGHT SONG: Members’ and Patron Preview and Reception
Join us for an exclusive, invite-only preview of FIGHT SONG by SPACES artist-in-residence Steve Parker, and enjoy the opportunity to meet the artist in person. Using sonic therapy and marching band traditions to explore themes of healing, injury, and labor through the lens of football culture, Parker transforms the Gund Gallery into an immersive sound sculpture.
This site-specific installation features an array of salvaged marching band instruments suspended from the ceiling, creating an environment where visitors can participate in an interactive meditation using an EEG brain monitor that translates brainwaves into live musical compositions.
Throughout the exhibition, regional artists and performers will respond to prompts outlined by Parker, activating the installation. The resulting compositions will be incorporated into FIGHT SONG, allowing the work to evolve over time.

Based in Austin, Texas, Steve Parker is an artist and musician who creates sculptural ecosystems that transform spaces into large-scale collaborative performances.
