Mysterious images shot with acoustic cameras show psychedelic visualizations emanating from Zug Island in Detroit, Michigan, while various recorded testimonies of resident's theories about the source of a deep hum open up a series of narrative explanations for the visuals. Blurring fact and fiction, the experience is both scientific and science-fiction, creating a mystery that is at once paranoid and phenomenological. The result is an immersive audio-visual installation interested in the subjective experience of sound, and the related desire for technologies of vision to turn that experience into an empirical, objective, or factual one.

The Hum will be offsite at the Sculpture Center in their Euclid Avenue Gallery, in conjunction with the David E. Davis Foundation
