SPACES Gallery - the nonprofit visual arts institution located in the shadow of the Detroit Superior Bridge - throws a hell of a party. And this year, Spangle's a sponsor! (So you can bet we will be in attendance and doing our best not to make fools of ourselves. Like last year.)
The annual benefit and art auction goes online this Saturday with its App to the Future theme - challenging attendees to dress as if they've just stepped out of their favorite tech era. Carry an abacus? Cover yourself in punch cards and eight-track tapes? Slick your hair back, strap on some shoulder pads and stutter like M-m-m-max Headroom?
Not to throw a damper on those ideas, but we're planning on throwing on some slick duds and experiencing the soiree in the vein of true art-lovers - by drinking heavily and bidding on lots of fabulous art. (Last year the tally was at least a bottle-and-a-half of wine and $850 in prints and sculptures. But, really, who's counting? It's for charity!)
Go high-end, spend $135 and attend start to finish, meaning open bar, heavy nosh, exclusive art bidding and "Buy it Now" auction privileges. Go middle-of-the-road, spend $45 for the general party, and get the auction, cash bar and desserts. Or go bohemian, spend $10 and crash the event late in the evening for a DJ battle and cash eats from the Dim and Den Sum boys.
This is honestly among the most fun, hip, and sexiest benefits of the year. So we'll see you and 400 of Cleveland's most fab there! (And if you're true Spangle fans ? don't forget to hold our hair back.)

The VIP event, featuring entertainment, an exclusive art and package auction with "Buy It Now" options, open bar, and eats by Flavor the Town. (VIP ticket holders enjoy "Buy It Now" privileges on all art throughout the entire evening.)
Browser Ball

8:30 p.m.?1 a.m.
The VIP portion ends as the party explodes. Featuring an auction with art by regional and national artists, games, cash bar, desserts and light hors d'oeuvres
Crash Bash
$10 at the door
10 p.m.?1 a.m.
DJs Lawrence Daniel Caswell and Chris Kulcsar battle, with cash bar and Dim and Den Sum nosh.

SPACES is open to the public on Weds-Sat 12-5 PM
SPACES has stops from busses 26 and 71 right out front.
