SPACES' board elects new leadership

Cleveland, OH, February 2, 2011—SPACES, the artist-centered, nonprofit art venue in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood, has appointed a new team of leadership to head its board of directors. John Farina has been selected as the new president of the board. Farina, who works in the Division of Institutional Advancement at the Cleveland Museum of Art, has been a board member since 2003.

"SPACES plays an important role in Cleveland's and the region's arts community as a resource for artists to explore and experiment and I could not be more excited to step into this role," said Farina. He replaces Scott Richardson, founder and principal designer at Richardson Design, who will continue to serve as Immediate Past President. They are joined by Arnie Tunstall, a photographer and Collections Manager at the Akron Musuem of Art, who will serve as Secretary; Nancy Fisher-Crum, Executive Director of Physician Compensation and Benefits at the Cleveland Clinic, who serves as Treasurer; and Lori Kella, an artist and professor at Kent State University, who will be the Vice President for Programming and Exhibitions. Additional officers will be appointed later this quarter.

In addition to new officers, the board has appointed four new members. The newly appointed members are Hilary Aurand, an artist and Gallery Director and Curator at legation, a gallery; Kristin M. Bly, artist, curator and Art Education and Communications Manager for the Progressive Art Collection; Michael Christoff, an architect with FORUM Architectural Services and co-founder of the Cleveland Design Competition and PechaKucha Night Cleveland; and Corey Thrush, an attorney with Ulmer & Berne and an artist. The board is currently interviewing candidates for a new round of appointments later this spring.
