Most museums and galleries kick off their fall seasons after Labor Day, but Spaces is coming out of the gate Friday night with a trio of new exhibitions emphasizing the nonprofit gallery's slant toward conceptual art.
Exhibit A is a show called "Portability & Network," an exhibition devoted to artists who make minimalist objects related to the concept of shipping and receiving. Spaces visiting artist Steve Lambert will exhibit a 20-foot-long sign aimed at polling viewers on whether they think capitalism works or does not work for them. And Northeast Ohio artist Royden Watson will contribute a SpaceLab installation called "Usenews," devoted to the racial changes summarized under the rubric of the "browning of America."
