CLEVELAND, Ohio ? The third video in an ongoing, online series presented by the nonprofit gallery Spaces raises questions about whether the Cleveland police should keep or decommission federally funded riot-control gear after the conclusion of the Republican National Convention in July.
The short film, produced by Chelsea Corso, is the third in the "Fixers" series, focusing on what some local residents would want convention delegates to know about Cleveland.
The film features statements by Cleveland writer R.A. Washington, attorney Jacqueline Greene and a third, unnamed interview subject, all of whom discuss specifics of the U.S. Department of Justice investigation into police use of force in Cleveland in 2014.
"What this RNC represents for the community at large is a silence and invisibility that is generations long," Washington, a poet, author and owner of the West Side bookstore Guide to Kulchur says in the video.
The video does not quote city government or police officials.
The online project, organized by artist Kate Sopko, refers to the journalistic practice in which a foreign correspondent hires a local reporter, or "fixer," to arrange tours, introductions and stories.
