SPACES Grand Opening in the Van Rooy Coffee Building Includes Artists from all Phases of its Evolution The grand opening of SPACES in the Van Rooy Coffee Building will feature two days of celebration on January 14 ? 15, 2017. The weekend is designed to showcase the new neighborhood and home of SPACES-in the Hingetown area of Ohio City-as well as the impact SPACES has had on artists and audience members for almost 40 years.


Saturday, January 14, 6 ? 8 pm / VIP Roving Dinner
VIP guests and sponsors will gather early to experience a 3-course dinner in different Hingetown locations. Each course will communicate the vitality and impact of a specific phase in the evolution of SPACES: the early days, 26 years on Superior Viaduct, and its future in Hingetown. Toasts will be given by SPACES founder James Rosenberger, artist Catherine Butler, former Executive Directors Susan Channing and Christopher Lynn, and Board President Thomas Starinsky. Courses are hosted by neighbors Graham Veysey & Marika Shioiri-Clark, Molly Toussant & Josh McLaughlin, and SPACES & Jukebox CLE. VIP Patron ($200) / VIP Guest ($125).

Saturday, January 14, 8 pm ? midnight / A Super Hot Housewarming / 2900 Detroit Avenue
Beginning at 8 pm, a lively dance party by DJ Genna Petrolla, eclectic performances, and art installations will take visitors through the nooks and crannies of the new location. Participating artists include: Amber Anderson, Christopher Auerbach-Brown, Christi Birchfield, Catherine Butler, Susan Danko, Lauren Davies, Dana Depew & R Ferris, John G, Kevin Hogan, Lori Kella & Michael Loderstedt, Christine Lewis, McKenzie Merrimen, Kristina Paabus, Kristin Rogers, Steven Simmons, Grace Summanen, Christina Turner, Stephen Yusko, and Meng-Hsuan Wu. Accompanying the exhibition will be a singing-in-the-shower performance by Adam Tully & Sheffia Randall Dooley, a Space Age lounge lizard act by Cosmika, and a reprise of Jeffry Chiplis' 1983 dedication ceremony for his portable pipe organ, performed at SPACES on W. 6th Street. General Admission ($25).

Sunday, January 15, noon ? 5 pm / FREE for All / 2900 Detroit Avenue
Enjoy light refreshments and explore the new SPACES via tours led by SPACES Executive Director Christina Vassallo and project architect John C. Williams of Process Creative Studios. Also, No Exit presents a drop-in performance by members of the St. Paul, Minnesota-based new music ensemble, Zeitgeist. FREE + open to the public!
