SPACES TO AWARD 60 CUYAHOGA COUNTY ARTISTS $1,000 EACH IN EMERGENCY GRANTS, SUPPORTED BY THE ANDY WARHOL FOUNDATION

SPACES is temporarily refocusing our second year of The Satellite Fund grant program to serve artists affected by the current pandemic and economic crisis. The Satellite Fund, administered by SPACES through a Regional Regranting Program of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, awarded project-based grants of $6,000 each to ten artist projects in 2019.

The Warhol Foundation has authorized its sixteen re-granting partners, including SPACES, to re-allocate our $100,000 grants to create and administer COVID-19 emergency relief funds in our communities.

SPACES will award Emergency Relief Grants of $1,000 each to 60 local artists who have lost income due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. This opportunity is open to artists, curators, and other kinds of cultural producers who are at least 18 years of age and living in Cuyahoga County at the time of application.

“SPACES is honored to serve artists in this way by awarding 2020 funding as emergency relief grants to Cuyahoga-based artists,” said Megan Young, Interim Executive Director, SPACES. “We recognize the necessity of unrestricted funding for artists experiencing economic instability and welcome a wide range of applicants. We anticipate a return to normal project-related grants through The Satellite Fund in 2021.”

This fund is open to visual artists and multi-disciplinary artists at all stages of their careers. Applicants establish eligibility by providing one of the following: an artist portfolio website link; a brief curriculum vitae; an artist resume; or an artist biography with three accompanying images of past work. The application also requests a brief statement of need, describing how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their economic livelihood and how they plan to use the funding.

The Satellite Fund Emergency Relief Grant awardees will be selected by an independent jury of distinguished arts professionals. SPACES staff, board, contractors and family of the previous are ineligible. Additional details are listed in the application on Submittable. Applications will be accepted through April 24th, 2020 with release of funding soon thereafter. Visit SPACES website to learn about all our opportunities for artists:www.spacescle.org.
