Residue of Hope: A Review of Kelley-Ann Lindo at Spaces, Cleveland, Ohio

"I was chasing rainbows. Daydreaming, in fact, when I walked into Spaces to see Kelley-Ann Lindo’s exhibition “Residue.” The colors of the walls grab your attention right away; the red-orange stands in contrast to the dark yellow hue. This is an odd pairing, but “the beautiful is always bizarre,” as Charles Baudelaire said. This beautiful bizarreness leads to the specificity of a chosen subject by the artist, the pair of colors isn’t vague. Caught by surprise, I was enchanted to see different configurations, such as sculpture, video, prints and tapestries, that are fragmented and transformed. The presentation of the objects is at once domestic, like furniture and art on walls in someone’s house, and archival since it is based on certain principles of logical organization..."
