(Cleveland, OH) — November 10, 2025 — SPACES is thrilled to announce the launch of its new Artist Residency Program, Echo, an initiative designed to support visual artists in developing on-site projects that engage with pressing issues and resonate with Northeastern Ohio communities.
Echo will support two artists each quarter—one from Northeast Ohio (Cuyahoga County and its contiguous counties) and one from outside the region—forming a peer cohort that encourages the exchange of ideas, techniques, and networks.
Echo residents will be selected for their innovative approaches and their ability to propose projects that expand their artistic practice while connecting authentically to the region. While collaboration between resident artists is not required, SPACES will intentionally pair artists with complementary or intersecting perspectives to foster dynamic dialogue and creative resonance.
An echo is inherently site-specific, emerging from a point of origin, resonating outward and looping back. Through this program, SPACES will serve as that point—where ideas are explored, shared, and reflected upon. Resident artists will receive an artist honorarium, production budget, on-site lodging, and the residencies will culminate in a public exhibition at SPACES.
The 2027 Echo Selection Committee includes celebrated artists and curators Anna Arnold, Leila Khoury, Thea Spittle, and Antwoine Washington.
Applications open November 10, 2025, and close February 10, 2026. Echo is open internationally to all visual artists working in any medium.
