The News Gallery, Volume 1 by Danny Volk
The News Gallery is an exhibition and eight-issue artist newspaper that highlights and focuses on the work and practices of artists who applied but were not selected to show work at SPACES R&D during the 2017 and 2018 open calls. With artists outnumbering exhibition opportunities, Volk proposes a practice of art making that creates rather than consumes opportunity. Using artists' proposal material as the newspaper copy, The News Gallery published 32 project proposals over the course of the exhibition's 8-week run. While TNG was available to be perused in the SPACES gallery, this subscription option means that audiences from all over can become familiar with artists they may never have encountered before, and artists can broaden their audience through this platform long after the end of the exhibition's run.

Artists featured include:

Unum Babar & Matt Kushan, Carolyn Ballou, Tyler Bohm, Timothy Callaghan, Thomas Choinacky, Hope Esser, Morgan Rose Free & Jessica Earle, Xia Gao, Katie Hargrave, Nora Hartlaub, Brett Hunter, Johannah Herr, Kevin Hunter, Andrew (Andy) Jackson, Roland (R.W.) Miller, Ricardo Miranda Zuniga, Alessandro Ravagnan, Agnes Ray, Jon Reike, Chrystal Robinson, Ron Shelton, Kathryn Shinko, Grace Summanen, Susie Underwood, Jacqueline van de Geer, Gabriel Walker, Moira WIlliams, Julie Wills, E.D. Taylor, Elizabeth Withstandley, and Margarita Benitez & Markus Vogl .

Purchasing a Subscription to Volume 1 of the News Gallery will grant you all 8 issues, shipped. Limited edition of 250. Comes with a SPACES gallery guide in a protective envelope. (All eight of your issues will have the same edition number.)

Packets will be mailed out early March 2019.
