Barbara Martin considers herself an emerging artist who has just scratched the surface of her artistic endeavors. She moved to Mentor, Ohio after retiring from teaching in the Dayton area in June of 2019. Her retirement plans included a new studio and plenty of time to spend in it. She brought that goal to fruition and it continues to be her focus. Barbara has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and a Master's degree in Education. She taught special education (mild/moderate) as well as art for a total of 27 years. She was also National Board Certified to teach art, K-8. Barbara's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in the Dayton and Cleveland areas. She has had several solo exhibits of her collage, assemblage, and scratchboard work. Her most recent show was at the Dana L. Wiley Gallery in Dayton, Ohio. See more of her work at danalwileygallery.com as well as her website, martinartwork.com.
