Christopher Auerbach-Brown is a composer and sound artist living and working in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife and two kids. He received his BM in Composition from Ithaca College. He went on to complete his MM in Composition at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He teaches courses in sound art at the Cleveland Institute of Art, electronic music classes at Lakeland Community College, and lessons and classes in music theory and composition at the Music Settlement. He is also the New Media Education Manager at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, where he creates podcasts and video, manages music concerts, handles MOCA's Twitter account, and gives educational tours to students as needed. Auerbach-Brown also plays alto saxophone, melodica, and musical saw in the group The Trepanning Trio. His music has been performed by Karel Paukert, the Cavani String Quartet, bass clarinet virtuosi Laura Sabo and Amy Advocat, and by members of the Cleveland Orchestra. Auerbach-Brown plays alto sax, melodica and musical saw in the Trepanning Trio.
Auerbach-Brown sound installations at SPACES include a collaborative installation with artist Andrea Joki, in 2008 and a solo installation, Boundaries presented in November 2011 and Apopheny - epiphany: What is Random? in which he curated a selection of sound artists for the Vault (May - July 2014)
His String Quartet was also premiered by the Cavani Quartet at Weill Hall in December of 1997. In 1998 Mr. Auerbach-Brown was the recipient of a Charles Ives Scholarship given by the American Academy of Arts and Letters to "composition students of great promise." His work has been performed by other notable ensembles like the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, members of the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Sirius Quartet.
