"Greg Murr (b. 1971 in Columbus, Ohio) is an American artist concentrating in drawing, painting and print media. Responding to places that include New Mexico's high desert, the Venetian lagoon, and the cities of New York and Berlin, he draws from local phenomena to explore ideas of change and how we understand our environment.
"Murr's work has appeared in exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art (2005), the Arkansas Art Center (2008), and the Katonah Art Museum (2006). He has twice served one-year appointments as Visiting Artist/Instructor at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy, and has been a fellow at the MacDowell Colony, the Robert M. MacNamara Foundation and the Morris Graves Foundation. His work is in permanent collections that include the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Sheldon Museum of Art, the Progressive Art Collection, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque and Flatbed Press in Austin have published editions of his work. Murr received his MFA from the University of New Mexico in 1997 and a BA from Wake Forest University. He presently lives in Berlin."
