Kate Budd was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1969. She received a BA degree from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, Scotland (1990) and an MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (1995). Budd has received three Individual Excellence Awards from the Ohio Arts Council and her work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibits. Solo exhibits include "tableau" at William Busta Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio; "Thorny" at Rudolph Poissant Gallery, Houston, Texas; "Kate Budd: On Site Ohio" at the Akron Art Museum and "Talisman" at Kenyon College, Ohio. Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, New Art Examiner and Sculpture magazines and she is currently represented by William Busta Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio. Her work is in the collections of Sonny Burt & Robert Butler of Dallas, Texas; ProcessCreative, Cleveland, Ohio; Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio; and Progressive Insurance Casualty Company, Cleveland, Ohio. Before coming to the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron, Budd taught in the sculpture department at the University of Texas in Austin for three years. She is now an Associate Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art where she has taught 3-D Design and Sculpture since 1998.
