Milwaukee, WI artists Shana McCaw (born 1974, Dubuque, IA) and Brent Budsberg (born 1976, Wausau, WI) have collaborated since 2001 in sculpture, performance, and site-specific installation, and more recently with photography and video. Their work examines the psychology of place, ancestral memory, and the passage of time. The two received the Mary L. Nohl Fellowship for Individual Artists in 2008.
Recent exhibitions include "False Burden" at The Black Frame Gallery in Milwaukee, WI; "The Tool at Hand" at the Milwaukee Art Museum; "Inside/Outside" at Lynden Sculpture Garden in River Hills, WI; "End of the Line" at the James Watrous Gallery in Madison, WI; and "Current Tendencies: Ten Artists from Wisconsin," at the Haggerty Museum of Art in Milwaukee, WI. In May, 2011, McCaw and Budsberg were in residence in Wendover, UT with the Center for Land Use Interpretation. Their residency project, a book of photographs entitled "States of Matter," is now part of the collection at the Nevada Museum of Art's Center for Art + Environment.
