“As a May 2020 Graduate of Columbia College Chicago, Kierah King received her BFA in Dance with a Minor in black World Studies. A native of Hartford, Connecticut Kierah was homeschooled in her family’s café where she learned the power of service, education and creativity as central to life.
Following her homeschooling experience, Kierah advanced her studies at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts where she received her Arts Diploma, and then on to Columbia College Chicago where her passion for social justice, activism, community building, and civic engagement came through in forms of performance, teaching, training, demonstrations and different forms of choreographic work. Kierah has presented work nationally, and internationally showing choreographic work at, - Centre National De La Danse in Pantin, France 2019. Premiering HA(B*tch)ually on the Dance Center stage in 2019 and was invited to perform again for the College Arts Association in Chicago as well as the American College Dance Association in Kalamazoo, Michigan 2020. Kierah last performed as a soloist in the Beyond The Bars Conference at Columbia University in New York 2020 And most recently received the CO-Mission Artist Residency at Links Hall where she began to develop her new digital work: “Rec(Creational) Use Only” as well as directing her first Dance Film, “Black Woman, Why”
