Lea Bertucci

Lea Bertucci is an interdisciplinary artist, composer and improviser working with installation, sound, and projection. As an instrumentalist, she focuses on an electro-acoustic preparation of the Bass Clarinet that heavily utilizes speaker feedback. In recent years, her projects have expanded to site-specific compositions for electronics and instruments, multichannel sound installations and music concrete collage.

Bertucci received a BFA in photography from Bard College in 2006. She has shown at University of Western Florida, Pensacola, FL; AC Institute, New York City; Gallery 451, Brooklyn; Woods Studio, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York; and Peer Gallery, New York City, among others. She has been an artist-in-residence at The Wave Farm, Smack Mellon, LMCC, and The Queens Museum of Art. She was awarded Young Composers' commissions from Roulette in 2008 and 2012 and is a 2015 ISSUE Project Room Artist in Residence. Her debut solo LP, Resonance Shapes was released in 2013 on the Obsolete Units label. Praised by A Closer Listen as "A grand exploration in the possibilities inherent in sound" the work consists of meticulously collaged compositions for tape and electronics and a site-specific recording for Bass Clarinet, struck metal bowls and resonant space. Collaborators include Leila Bordreuil (Cello), G. Lucas Crane (tape collage), Bhob Rainey (Soprano Sax), Anthony Saunders (electronics), Bradley Eros (expanded cinema) and Eli Keszler (percussion). She has performed solo and collaborative works at venues such as Issue Project Room, The Kitchen, Anthology Film Archives, Caramoor, Artists' Television Access (SF), Incubator Arts, Experimental Intermedia, The Wave Farm, Roulette, The Queens Museum of Art and the High Zero Festival among many others.
