Born in England, Tyrrell began working with linen at the age of 30. Her work was accepted to the annual juried exhibition at The Cleveland Museum of Art, in 1979 and 1981, and she was awarded the first of her six Ohio Arts Council Fellowships in 1983. With her one-person show at SPACES in 1983, she emerged as an established artist. She went on to exhibit throughout North America.
