Michelangelo Lovelace Sr. was born and raised in Cleveland,Ohio in 1960. As a child Lovelace began drawing to escape the hard reality of growing up in a single parent household. Michelangelo Lovelace Sr. loved to draw and by the age of 22 he started to use oil paints and then acrylic paints on canvas to express his life experience growing up in Cleveland's inner-city. Drawing from the things he saw and from his good experiences and bad experiences. He also drawn from the many day to day happenings that the community went through. Now after more then twenty years as an artist Lovelace continues working from life as he knows it to be.
Lovelace's artistic contributions consist of over 25 years of depicting urban life from his prospective. His artwork has touched many lives in the urban communities where he has resided, his work has inspired art collectors, curators, and CEO's of major corporations like Cleveland Clinic, Progressive Insurance Company, Case Western Reserve Artist Archives. His artwork has displayed in Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois and through his home state Ohio. Lovelace has received fellowship awards, and recognitions for his unique artistic talent.
Visiting SPACES
Open Wednesday - Saturday
from 12PM - 5PM, and by appointment.
All visitors are recommended to wear masks and social distance from staff and other guests. SPACES is located close to the 26, 76, and 81 bus stops, as well as the Red Line Rapid station. Street parking is available throughout Hingetown, as are bike racks. We are wheelchair accessible throughout the galleries.
