Tamar Harpaz

Tel Aviv, Israel

Tamar Harpaz was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1979. She earned her MFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Tel Aviv, in 2009 and her BFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, in 2005. Harpaz's solo exhibitions include Kitchen Sink Drama, CCA, Tel Aviv (2014); Girl-to-Gorilla, Sommer Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv (2012); American Night, SPACES gallery, Cleveland, OH (2011); Reverse Engineering, Hamidrasha Gallery, Tel Aviv (2010); Permanent Variable, Sommer Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv (2010); Haroshet, M.F.A Thesis Show, Hatachana, Tel Aviv (2009); and BFA Thesis Show, Bezalel, Jerusalem (2005). She has also participated in group exhibtions at venues such as Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; MACRO Testaccio, Rome, Italy; Vela Gallery, London, England; Orangerie du Senate, Paris, France; Glasgow School Of Arts, Glasgow, Scotland; and Gitte Schafer Project Room, Berlin, Germany; among others in Israel.

Harpaz has been awarded the Anselm Kiefer Scholarship from the Wolf Foundation in 2013, the Ministry of Culture prize for emerging artist and the Lynn Schusterman scholarship for Artist Residence in 2011, the Givon Prize for Art from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in 2010, The America-Israel Cultural Foundation Sharett Scholarship in 2009, Alieen S. Cooper Prize for Academic Excellence from the Bezalel Academy (Tel Aviv) in 2008, and the Prize for Outstanding Achievements from the Bezalel Academy (Jerusalem) in 2005. She was the 32nd artist-in-residence for the Spaces World Artist Program (SWAP), Cleveland, OH, in 2011 and held a residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 2015. Harpaz is currently works for the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (Tel Aviv) and is a lecturer at Beit Berl College in Kfar Saba, Israel.
