Davon Brantley (b.1995-07-09) is a Cleveland based artist who implements self-portraiture and psychology within his work. Inspired by the dissociative behaviors that happen as a result of traumatic experiences and the reputation involved with those experiences. Davon analyzes not only how these affect you in your childhood but also into your adulthood. This interest in analyzing these topics stem from Davon’s own personal experience with trauma through his life. This causes Davon’s work to revolve around how these situations affect relationships with family, friends, loves, meditations on life and death, masculinity, sexuality and race. His work often utilizes tropes from the artistic periods in the baroque and renaissance eras, in order to dramatize the experiences happening as if the audience has entered a theatrical play.
