SPACES ANNOUNCES REOPENING AND FOUR NEW ARTIST PROJECTS

SPACES, the resource and public forum for artists who explore and experiment, announces a limited reopening schedule set to begin on Saturday, June 27. SPACES complied with Ohio’s March 23 COVID-19 stay-at-home measures, and staff have been working remotely to deliver online programming. Artists and staff are pleased to announce visitors will be welcomed to view works on-site once again. New gallery hours will be by appointment only with the protocols listed below, Wednesdays through Saturdays noon - 5 PM.

For this first reopening phase SPACES will host visitors by appointment only, in 60-minute time slots. Up to eight appointment slots will be available per hour. Appointments will be posted for sign-up starting Friday, June 19. Guests will be asked to certify their health status when signing up for appointments on SPACES’ website (www.spacescle.org). For the safety of staff and visitors, SPACES Mistake Lab, bathrooms, video screening room, and artist studios will remain closed to the general public.

When arriving for registered appointment times, visitors will ring the doorbell at the main exterior door (under the neon “Art” sign). Masks must be worn at all times by staff and visitors, and social distancing requirements (a minimum of 6-feet apart) must also be observed. Hand sanitizer and tissues will be available for visitors, though we ask all guests to refrain from touching anything in our facility. Staff will clean high-touch areas between appointment slots.

New artist projects for June 27 include: The Grass is Always Greener, by Danielle Andress (Chicago, IL), Universal Approximator by Jeff Thompson (Jersey City, NJ), SPACES Season Pass Members Feature juried by Andrea Gyorody (Oberlin, OH), and Crisis Resources by Michael Workman (Chicago, IL). Works will be on view in the galleries and online, with accompanying creative engagement activities for all ages.

These procedures shall remain in effect until further notice is posted on SPACES website. Further updates will be issued at a later date.
