Urgent Art Fund

SPACES is thrilled to share the 2021 Urgent Art Fund application. We are now accepting proposals on a rolling basis for projects that are politically, culturally, and/or socially responsive. The Urgent Art Fund is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

2021 jurors, Asia Armour, LaToya Kent (UAF '20), and Gisela McDaniel, will select 10 projects to recieve $5,000 grants. Applications are open to artists who are residents of Cuyahoga County. Grant recipients will also receive access to SPACES' art production facilities, mentorship, and complimentary SPACES Season Pass Membership. For more details visit:

The Satellite Fund

This opportunity is part of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program, which awards grants to vibrant, under-the-radar artistic activity by partnering with leading cultural institutions in 16 communities across the country. In 2021, five jurors will award grants of $3,000 to 20 artists. Applications are open to artists who are residents of Cuyahoga County.

Residencies + Exhibitions

SPACES supports artistic research and development of international, national, and regional artists engaging in experimental projects. Our residency positions for 2021 and 2022 have already been filled. Stay tuned for future opportunities! In the meantime check out the 2020 artist roster here.

Time-Based Arts

Our Time-Based Arts programming features new-to-Cleveland projects with duration as an essential dimension. This includes video and sound pieces, film, software-based art, performance, workshops, and celebrations. In 2020, we began commissioning new digital artifacts for our SPACEStation Series, too!

Benefits include invitations to members-only events, exhibition previews, and the opportunity to apply for Members’ Exhibitions. Learn more about benefits for members, and how to sign-up, HERE.
